Light in between the finish line

We spend so much of our time trying to get to the finish line. We constantly set goals and high expectations for ourselves, which can often times lead us to frustration, and self pity. "I'm going to lose x amount of weight in one month, I'm going to change my whole diet in one week, I'm going to cut ties with toxic friends now." These things can all happen but they take work, they take detachment, they require steps. Ever run a marathon? If you have you know that most often you spend a lot of time training and mentally preparing and building yourself up. You don't focus on the finish line, but instead you focus on how to get yourself there in steps. Imagine if we planned our life that way? I want to detach from unhealthy relationships, what are the steps required. I want to live a healthier lifestyle, what goal can I set for myself daily to hold myself accountable? Not only do we need to give ourselves steps, but we need to see the light in between the finish line. Look around, be proud of yourself, give yourself a pat on the back for taking each step, and just have faith that you will get there, one step at a time. Never lose hope, and make adjustments if necessary. You don't have anything to prove to anyone but yourself. Do it for you! See the light in between.
