Vegan Pupusas recipe
How much do you know about El Salvador? This small Central American country does not receive the attention it deserves. Salvadorans are extremely friendly, warm and welcoming. Your heart will feel like exploding once you experience the kindness of Salvadoreans. I was born in New York and my family roots are from El Salvador and we're filled with hearts of Gold. Pupusas is a famous salvadorean dish. I decided to mix my veganism to an authentic dish. This recipe is very healthy and will only serve 2 pupusas. Enjoy <3
Recipe for vegan pupusas
1/2 cup of quinoa flour
1/2 cup of maseca
Quarter of a cup of cooked red beans
Vegan cheese
Large bowl
One avocado
4 ounces of shredded cabbage (red and green)

Pepper
Dash of onion powder
Non stick pan
Directions
Pour 1/2 cup of quinoa Flour in bowl
Add 1/2 cup of maseca in bowl
Add a quart of a cup of water
Use both hands to mix dough
*the idea is to get the consistency of play dough
Once you have reached the desired consistency, you grabbed a piece of dough and you roll into a tennis ball size.
Place it in between two pieces of seran wrap.
Flatten it with your hand until you get the shape of a tortilla.
Remove it from the seran wrap, place it in your hand.
Place beans and cut up cheese in a separate bowl
Smash beans and cheese until you reach a paste consistency
Place ingredients in the center of the dough.
Fold the edges onto the center until it’s closed and then flatten it with your hand until you have obtain a quarter inch of height.
*The idea is to make sure all ingredients are sealed inside
Add one tablespoon of oil to the pan, spread oil throughout the entire pan
Place pupusa onto pan for 2 minutes
With a spatula see if the color changes and then flip it over.
Continue this process till it’s golden.
Add shredded cabbage with a tablespoon of vinegar and sliced up avocados on top.
